The Property History
The 1908/12 building was designed by WL Vernon, a prominent, well respected NSW Government Architect. Vernon designed the building in the ‘Federation Free Classical’ adopted school style and was originally utilised as Newcastle East Public School until 1982.

When the school changed locations, the site was then used by the Department of Attorney General and Justice up until 2014. During this time it became a formal court annex building which was used for jury selection and also included offices for law court attendants. It’s proximity offered easy access between the main courthouse, frequented by the members of the law fraternity.

Throughout 2018 the building has undergone extensive remedial work including the stripping and painting of all the external of windows and eaves etc, brick repointing where required, gutter repairs and replacement and the cleaning, repairing and replacing of stonework.
